Meet Dr. Bax

  • Dr.
    Graci Marra Bax

Dentistry is a very rewarding career. I hope to make a difference in people’s lives and give back to the community where I was born and raised. The choice for a career in dentistry was influenced by the members of my family serving in the healthcare profession. Their satisfaction in helping others strongly motivated me.

My first experience serving people less fortunate than I was a mission trip to Chiapas, Mexico. With the Sisters of St. Francis of Stella Niagara and other local medical professionals, we briefly touched on the needs of this poor population. It was both very humbling and rewarding to meet these wonderful families who were clearly appreciative and rewarding to know that I could make a difference.

I will always remember the words my grandfather said to me the day I was accepted into dental school. “There is a great satisfaction, knowing that you are making a positive difference in someone’s health...in someone's life.” Today, after practicing for several years, I clearly understand the essence in these words.

I pledge to do everything I can to help my patients feel better about themselves, to help them become pain-free and more aware of their oral health, and to secure the best thing you can put on every day... a healthy, beautiful smile. Put your faith in me; I won’t disappoint you. I look forward to meeting you and appreciate the opportunity to serve you and your family.

    Outside the office

Dr. Graci resides in Lewiston with her family. They are avid Buffalo Bills fans and love the outdoors, especially weekends at their log cabin in the southern tier. There she enjoys hiking, hunting, and drawing.  Dr. Bax was blessed with artistic talents from her late Mother, Gracelyn Marra Bax.  Many of her original pieces adorn the office making our patients feel right at home.

She was born and raised in the town of Lewiston in a family of predominantly healthcare professionals who served this community for well over a century collectively.

Dr. Graci Marra Bax is proud to succeed a prominent dentist in the community, her maternal grandfather, Dr. Peter J. Marra, who practiced for more than 50 years. It was a special moment for both when Dr. Marra presented his granddaughter with her doctorate diploma at the graduation ceremony in 2005 at the University of Buffalo, N.Y.

Her paternal grandfather, Dr. A.L. Bax, was a general surgeon for 45 years. Her father, Dr. A.J. Bax, a surgeon for 30 years and served as the medical director for Niagara Hospice in Lockport. Her sister, Dr. Sarina Bax DeBiaso, a general surgeon as well, works for Catholic Health as a palliative care physician.
